How do I order?
Might we suggest you refer to the link on the left of this page "How to order"

How do I pay?
You can pay by Credit Card, Debit Card, Cheque, Postal Order or Paypal. Cash should never be posted and can only be paid over the counter at our outlets at Arena Essex (Photo Shop unit) or the Mildenhall & Dover Track shops. Cheques and Postal Orders should be crossed and made payable to RacePixels. Send cheques and Postal Orders to the address at the top of this page. Please put your name and address on the reverse of the cheque. If you want to pay by credit card or debit card you can do so by either phoning through your details to us on 01375 671998 or, if you prefer, you can enter your credit card details via our online payment service in association with Paypal. Please note that Credit/Debit card payments (and payments made via paypal) are subject to a 50p processing fee, if the total order is below £10.

What is PayPal?
Ebay users should already be well versed with Paypal as many traders accept payments via the service.
Paypal is an online payment system which allows users to make and receive payments to/from their email address. We can send you an invoice via email which will contain all the payment details you require. The email will contain a link to the secure Paypal site through which you can safely enter your credit card details and complete payment. Your credit card details will be handled by PayPal on RacePixels behalf. You DO NOT need to sign up for a Paypal account to use this processing service.

I already have a Paypal account, can I pay you from my existing funds?
Yes. Ask us to send you an email request for payment, or make the payment yourself to the orders@racepixels.co.uk email address.

Why do you charge an extra 50p for Paypal orders and credit/debit card transactions below £10?
We are charged for every transaction made through Paypal. Whilst we can quite reasonably absorb the charges for orders of a significant size, this is not possible for smaller orders. The charge is not significant when you consider that by putting a cheque in the post you will incur the cost of postage and have to wait a further couple of days for your order.

Can I pay cash?
Only if you are able to hand the cash over to the photo shop at Arena Essex, Mildenhall or Dover. Under no circumstances is cash to be sent through the post.

Can I have a discount?
Sensible questions only please.

How much postage do i need to add?
For multiple purchases of different items  it is probably best to phone or email for confirmation of the postage costs. However this guide will help for our most regular purchases:
Standard photos only (any quantity) 70p
Keyrings and/or fridge magnets 70p
Enlargements up to 8"x6" and mousemats £1
Enlargements up to 18" x 12" (Including A3 laminates) £1.80
Larger posters, jigsaw, single mug, photo clock £3

I'm lost. How can I find the photo I am after?
Go into the galleries link on the left hand side of this page. We will always list our most recent updates at the top of the gallery page. Please note these are the most recent updates, not most recent meetings. Some of our photographers may be quicker than others to get their photos to us. You may prefer to use the scroll bar and find the track you are interested in and click on that link. If you are interested in a particular formula you can scroll further down to find a link to photos for all the meetings for that formula.

What do all the numbers mean?
Our filing system has to take into account that many of our photographers are working on the same day and occasionally at the same meeting. Each photo is given a reference in the format LDDYYMM NNN.
L = Individual photographers reference
DDMMYY = Date of the meeting
NNN = The individual photo number
Each reference number is therefore unique and allows us to easily trace the image you are after.

Where are you going to be this weekend?
Good question.
We cannot guarantee attendance at any one meeting. However it is reasonable to expect that every meeting at Arena Essex, Mildenhall, Dover, Hednesford, Kings Lynn, Ipswich, Eastbourne and Wimbledon will be covered. We are currently looking at obtaining an accurate diary to ascertain our photographers attendance at other tracks.

Can any photo be reproduced to any print size?
Not always. Generally anything up to 12" x 8" or A4 will be achievable by any photo on the website. However if you are going above that size, some images taken at night, or in poor conditions may not reap an acceptable result. We will certainly advise you if this is the case.

What is the difference between photographic, laser and Inkjet prints?
In short, quality. A photographic print is what you would get back from a photographic laboratory and is the best quality. If you want a long lasting quality print, this is the only option. An inkjet print is a cheaper option. We are able to offer Inkjet prints while you wait at our Track Shop at Arena Essex - It will look the same as a photographic print but is more sensitive. Kept in warm conditions it should last a good number of years but it cannot be relied on to not fade if kept in cold, damp conditions, such as a workshop or garage. A laser print is a print obtained from a state of the art colour photocopier. This is by far the cheapest option and large sizes, such as A3, can be obtained at a third of the price of a photographic print. Our laser prints are laminated to add extra strength and durability to them. Although very good, the quality of the image is nowhere near the quality of our other options. In short we would always recommend photographic prints above all others. Inkjet prints are ideal when you need prints in a hurry and where they will be displayed in the home. Laser prints are ideal for display in the workshop or garage, the extra durability afforded by the lamination process makes them very hard wearing.

What equipment do you use?
All of our photographers are equipped with modern Digital SLR cameras and a variety of lenses and flashes. The majority use Canon or Nikon equipment. Don't think that you have to go out and buy state of the art equipment to get great results from photography. Many of us use mid range Nikons and Canons that retail for about £500. With the amount of dust and debris that gets thrown at us during a season we would think twice before venturing on track with anything more expensive!

How long will it take for photos from xxx meeting to be online?
We cannot really say for sure. Our photographers often have a bit of post processing work to do on the photographs before they mail them through to us and we obviously may not be able to get them online straight away. Please do not email us asking this question as we just do not know! If a meeting has "coming soon" written by it in the gallery then rest assured it will come.... and soon...

Can I use the images on my own website?
You can. As you will note our images have a large watermark and further contact details on them. If you can live with that feel free to right click on the image and save it to your hard drive and slot into your website. However, PLEASE ensure that you include a link to RacePixels.co.uk on your links page.
If you want an unwatermarked image for your website we can provide them at £1 each. We can email the images. (or send them on a CD for an extra £1). They will be sized at 6" x 4" 72DPI which equates to 432 x 288 pixels. If you want a bigger image that fills the screen you will need to purchase them at wallpaper size (see below)

Can I use an image as wallpaper?
You can. To look up your screen resolution, right click on your existing background (making sure the mouse pointer is not over an icon) and select properties from the menu. Click on the settings tab and make a note of the screen resolution. (Ie 800 x 600 pixels or 1024 x 768 pixels etc). Email this resolution to us together with details of the photo (or photos - see above) you want as wallpaper. The cost is £2.50 and we will email the unwatermarked image back to you (or supply it on a CD for an extra £1)

Can I get digital images and print photos myself?
Yes. Each image costs £10. This does not give you total free reign to do what you like with the image - Please read the section relating to copyright issues later on. However you are permitted to use the image to produce any number of prints and products FOR YOUR OWN USE ONLY. Images are not to be used for any personal gain.

Why do you put such an obtrusive watermark over the photos?
One word. Copyright. Photographers suffer greatly with the ease at which images can be copied. The Internet has made the problem ten times worse. The RacePixels galleries are a representation of the images that are for sale and are not intended for any other use.

What is the situation regarding copyright?
All the photographs that are on the RacePixels website remain the copyright of the individual photographer. RacePixels pays each photographer a commission based on sales. When you buy an image, the copyright still remains with that photographer. Any print or product you buy cannot be reproduced in any form. The exception is where you purchase a digital image. If you buy an image for a website you are permitted to use that image on any non-commercial website. Where you buy a wallpaper you are permitted to use that image on your own PC and/or any non-commercial website. If you buy a top quality image for own use you are permitted to reproduce that image on any items, be they prints or products, for your own use only. They may not be used as part of any commercial enterprise.

Can I buy the photos at a track?
RacePixels, or more specifically, its proprietor, Matthew Bull, operates out of the photo shop at Arena Essex Raceway and the Track shops at Mildenhall and Dover. We are only able to accept orders and/or have orders ready to pick up at these three venues. Occasionally other RacePixels photographers may have stands at the venues at which they most frequent, but RacePixels products generally cannot be ordered from there.

What are the mounts like that come with the enlargement print sizes?
Nice! If you think back to your school days and the prints you used to get of you grinning like a cheshire cat at the photographer with the comb-over, our mounts are similar to the ones that come with those school pictures - except a bit more classier. The mounts that come with the 12"x8" enlargements or the A4 inkjet prints (both sizes fit them equally well) are either grey swirl or blue swirl freestanding strut mounts. You can specify the colour when ordering, or leave it up to us. There is a picture in our product guide if you would care to whizz over there now. The 10"x8"s come in a brown leatherette strut mount. The 8"x6" enlargements come in a brown presentation folder. All other print sizes come naked, so to speak.

Can I use an image in a publication?
Yes. Our fee varies based on the publication and its circulation. Please contact us with your requirements. Don't worry. We are reasonable.

How long will my order take?
Depends! Remember that we will not despatch items until we have received cleared funds. We should be able to despatch most orders within a week, although you should allow a fortnight. Larger posters (A2 or above) and products such as mugs, mousemats, montages and Jigsaws may take three weeks for delivery. If you need an item for a special occasion please let us know and we shall endeavor to assure delivery in time. Please order early for Christmas. We expect a rush!

Have you taken any other photos of the meeting that you haven't put on the website?
Probably not. We do try to put every photo we take on the RacePixels website. Browse in confidence that you are choosing from the full range of images available from that meeting. Very occasionally images dont turn out for whatever reason. We all press the wrong button occasionally, leave the lens cap on, spill tea on a memory card, that sort of thing. We are human.

I am racing at xxx meeting, can your photographer keep an eye out for me?
Yes. Please give us plenty of warning before the meeting. If our photographer is there he will be briefed to keep a special eye out for you. Don't leave it till the day. You will have a million and one other things to do and will forget!

Are images altered in any way from what is visible on the web to what I will receive in print form?
Very occasionally images will require some alteration before they are printed. This may simply consist of a slight lightening of the image to ensure it reproduces well in print form. Where certain sizes are ordered, the image may be cropped slightly differently to prevent parts of the subject being missed off the finished print. Occasionally we might supply a print bigger than that ordered to ensure that no part of the main subject is cropped out of a picture.

Can I link to your site or get a link to mine?
Yes and yes. Please feel free to add a link to our website. If you would like a reciprocal link to your site please email us with your details including your web address and a brief summary of what the site is and does! We cannot include banners on our links page but if you would like to use ours, please feel free. Here it is in a variety of sizes for you..
