This is possibly the most amazing crash I have ever seen, the photos were taken at Donington 9th October 1993. During qualifying, Jason Elliot had total brake failure in his Weylock Racing Reynard 91D Cosworth, when entering the Old Hairpin at about 170MPH. Digging into the gravel trap the car then rolled over the safety barrier and into the catch fencing, spreading debris into the spectator area which luckily, apart from me, was empty! As you can see, Elliott walked away unharmed. Donington was Elliot's only appearance in the series during 1993. I have to admit not knowing whether he ever raced again. However two years previously, in 1991, following the tragic death of former Stock Car star, Paul Warwick, Elliot had been drafted into the Mansell Madgwick team midway through the season and he had scored a brace of podium places for the team. Warwick won the 1991 title posthumously.
