We now go back to the 1989 National Weekend at Hednesford and some of the top names of the era. George Polley, The Driver, needs no introduction. Paul Grimer, was unfortunate to never pick up a World title, as his brother Peter did in 1984, but he was still a top name. Phil White, meanwhile, was destined for multiple championship successes. The bottom two pics are actually from 17th April 1988 and feature an interesting couple of cars. If you have George Polley in a feature, you'd better have Barry Lee too. This must have been "one of" his last hurrahs in the formula. Below him is the Toyota 1000 of Pete Winstone. Winstone was not the only driver to race such a car, Paul Sheard also campaigned one, with some success.
