This week we look at Stock Rods and the National Championship in 1989. The first photo shows the battle for the lead of the National Championship. Brian Smith (565) won the event, closely followed by Melly Cooke. The next pic shows popular Midland racer, Clint Wykes heading Irishman, Roy McCane - the latter of whom would win a World Final at the venue a couple of years later. Dan Craven heads the pack int he next shot whilst he then comes a cropper later on as 981 spins across his bows. Minis were still a fairly popular choice in the formula at this point. Number 827 had two of them at his disposal whilst Mr Wilson in 816 was gunning for glory out of the white grade.
